How to make a room full of people cry!

Over the years we've seen many memorable moments at Beckenham's Night of Honour but I think one of my all time favourites was when we announced the winner of Beckenham's Child of the Year 2008!

A local gymnastic club had nominated one of their pupils for his cheerful nature and his determination to do his best despite receiving chemotherapy (again). After talking to his school we quickly realised that this truly was an incredible child who really knew how to overcome adversity with a smile and was a very worthy winner of the award.

We also quickly realised that Chelsea FC played an important role in his life so we contacted them to see what they could do.

Along with his Child of the Year Award, the Mayor of Bromley was able to present him with a whole bag of Chelsea goodies including a cap, scarf, and some signed photos.

Then the director of Beckenham's Night of Honour, Julian Melfi, told him about the rest of his prize. He, and his family were invited to attend a match at Chelsea with VIP seating, attend the press conference and meet the players in the tunnel.

There wasn't a dry eye in the house as a very special boy got a dream come true.
